Frequently Asked Questions:
Have a question? Read through our FAQs or get in touch if you need to know more.
-
Do you Install? Yes! We offer local onsite quotes and installation of all our products. If you live just outside the Auckland region and are looking at our products, get in touch! We have done supply and install jobs as far as the Waikato and Thames-Coromandel and would be open to having a chat.
-
What is PVC? Good Question! PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride, and is a high strength thermoplastic material. It is one of the most widely produced synthetic polymers of plastic and is commonly used to make pipes, cable and wire insulation, medical devices, and building supplies. Our PVC fences are made from PVC with UV inhibitors, added stabilisers and impact modifiers to make them tough and hardwearing.
-
What about warranty? Our PVC fences and gates come with a 30 year residential warranty - one of the longest in the industry. We are one of the only companies in New Zealand to stand behind our products for that long - in fact, we don't know of anyone else who does!
-
I've seen other PVC fencers. What about them? While we guarantee our PVC product, not all PVC fences or installers are equal. We have long standing relationships with our suppliers and our PVC prodcuts have proven themselves over almost a decade of supplying and installing them. We are one of the only companies that offer a 30 year lifetime warranty for residential supply and installation of our PVC fences - that's how much we believe in our product! You can find cheaper products out there, but you will get what you pay for in the long run.
-
What PVC colors do you offer? We only sell white or light grey PVC fences and gates. You can have one or the other, or mix and match to create a custom fence (grey top rail and posts with white panels is a striking, yet classic, look!). Our wook-look WPC collection comes in darker color choices and is a great alternative.
-
Why don't you have dark PVC fence options? Our PVC fences use a white pigment, titanium oxide, as the UV inhibitor. Because of this, our fences are either white or light grey. A darker PVC fence would be prone to fading and would absorb more heat from the sun which would cause the materials to lose their durability. For that reason, we do not offer them as an option. However, our WPC range does come in darker 'stained timber' look options.
-
Can I paint my PVC fence? The short answer: yes, it is possible to paint a PVC fence. However, painting it will void your warranty and potentially shorten the lifespan of your fence when done incorrectly as it can affect the integrity of the product. The long answer: with meticulous preparation, fine grit sanding, plastic primer, and high quality acrylic latec paint specifically designed for plastic, you would be able to paint your PVC fence. We strongly recommend you do not paint your PVC fence, but if you are commited to it please seek a professional painter's services are remember that your warranty will be forfeited.
-
Will my new PVC fence yellow? Our PVC fences and gates are manufactured with a high content (10 parts per 100 parts) of Ti02 (titanium dioxide) and ultraviolet inhibitors with 100% virgin vinyl to ensure your fence will not yellow, rot, peel, warp, blister, flake, crack, or corrode due to poor quality materials or manufacturing. Your white PVC fence will not fade, but you may notice very slight fading on your pale grey fence over a long period of time. Any fading of the light grey will be barely noticeable.
-
How do I look after my PVC fence? Your PVC fence should be given a light wash every 6 months to keep it looking it's best. We recommend (and use ourselves) a bucket of warm soapy water with a microfiber cloth or soft brush/broom. Lightly scrub the fence and gate all over and rinse off with the hose. For tougher stains such as graffiti, we use a gentle abrasive cleaner, such as Jiff, with a microfiber cloth and water. Repeat and rinse and necessary.
-
How long will my PVC fence last? We give a 30 year residential warranty on our PVC fences and gates, and that's the minimum of how long we expect their lifespan to be! As long as they are taken care of, and notwithstanding extreme forces of nature or unusually large/heavy impacts they will be standing strong for decades.
-
Is PVC recyclable? Our PVC fence posts and rails, and any offcuts are recyclable through Marley, by aliaxis. They have drop off sites throughout New Zealand where unwanted PVC fencing can be dropped off to be recycled and repurposed.
